Top Travel Tips for Visiting Maldives

19 April 2023 | All Blogs, Destination, Experience, Villas

The perfect blue of the Maldives is beckoning. Baros Maldives is the ultimate luxury island destination. Let us help you make your trip the memory of a lifetime with these six helpful tips.

  1. Stay in one resort to minimise exhausting transfers

As tempting as it might be to try and fit more than one resort into your stay, the logistics of travel in the Maldives makes this challenging. For most resort transfers, you will be required to travel back to the airport to be picked up by the next resort, losing precious time from your holiday. Baros is a short 25-minute luxury boat ride from the airport, and is everything you dream of in an island destination, meaning you don’t waste even a minute more of your time in paradise navigating transfers.

  1. Choose a resort that doesn’t require a sea plane or long boat ride to get to

Many resorts require long boat ride transfers from the airport. To cut transfer times you can hire a seaplane. These are, however, expensive, and can only fly in the daylight. If you arrive late, it means you will need to wait until morning to get to your resort. Baros guests are met at the airport by our Airport Representative and whisked away by speedboat to the island as soon as you arrive, with no long waits or transits.

  1. Choose the best time of year to travel to the Maldives for you

The Maldives is hot and sunny all year round, with average temperatures of between 27ºC and 31ºC, it is the perfect beach holiday destination. There are predominantly two seasons, Dry Season and Wet Season each of which has its benefits – it all depends on what you are looking for.

The wet season runs from mid-May to October and is ideal for diving with Manta Rays. Temperatures are warm, with sunny days and occasional bouts of rain showers. If it rains you can always head to our Serenity Spa for an indulgent treatment.

If it is sunshine you are looking for, then the dry season is for you. From November to April temperatures range from 29°C to 31°C. These are ideal months to enjoy long happy days of dazzling sunshine while you snorkel, swim and kayak in calm waters.

January to April are the driest months, with little rain and low humidity and are the perfect time for a late winter escape from Europe. The sea is clear and calm during this period, making it perfect for cruising around the islands.

  1. Spend those special festivals and holidays at beautiful Baros

Baros is a wonderful place to spend Christmas. Our team puts together a special festive programme, ranging from superb culinary events, romantic sunset cruises and adventurous diving excursions. The Maldives is predominantly a Muslim country and Ramadan Holy Month (which falls on the ninth month of the Islamic calendar) is observed throughout the archipelago. Baros offers special Eid getaway packages to guests hailing from the GCC who want to escape the summer heat waves and indulge in specially curated accommodation, dining and spa offers.

  1. Choose between a beach or water villa depending on your idea of paradise

The water villa suspended over a crystal-clear sea is the iconic picture of the Maldives, and is indeed the ideal villa type for ocean lovers who want to be surrounded by the sea and have instant access to it. If you enjoy the sea but also love the beach and want to enjoy the local flora and fauna, then a beach villa might be the perfect spot for your tropical breakaway. The beach villas at Baros are picturesque with open air garden showers and garden paths leading down your very own spot on the beach.

  1. Ask for a room that gets you the best sunset or sunrise experience

If you are a late riser, ask our team to give you a room with a view of a spectacular sunset, situated so that you can make the most of that late afternoon sun. Early risers will want a room that enjoys a breathtaking sunrise and glorious morning sun.

Any trip to the Maldives is paradise, however these tips will help you make the very most of your time. Contact our team to help you plan a bespoke trip to paradise reservations@baros.com.
