Snorkelling

Step off your deck and into the reef

The Baros house reef begins just a few fin kicks from shore, and from the steps of our overwater villas. It slopes gently to around 20 metres, so beginners can float over coral in the shallows while stronger swimmers follow the reef edge. Hawksbill and green turtles graze in the lagoon, rays and batfish drift past and schools of surgeonfish and fusiliers flash overhead. Blacktip reef sharks use the shallows as a nursery. Look out for Finny, our resident blacktip, easy to spot by her missing dorsal fin.
Explore on your own, or let our marine team show you what to look for.

Leave something behind for the reef
Sponsor a coral frame and plant living fragments on the house reef with our marine biologist. We'll send you updates on its growth for two years, so you can watch your part of the reef flourish from home. Find out more about our Coral Restoration programme.
