Best Time to Visit Maldives: Weather & Festivals

7 August 2022 | All Blogs, Destination, Experience

Baros Maldives conjures up breathtaking images of a beautiful island fringed by a white powdery beach, with cocooning overwater villas, a world-class coral house reef teeming with marine life and endless days of relaxation, spa pampering and island hopping. But it’s not always clear when it is the best time to visit.

The Maldives is hot and sunny all year round, with average temperatures of between 23ºC and 31ºC making it a perfect beach holiday destination. There are predominantly two seasons, Monsoon Season and High Season and each season provides different benefits – it all depends on what you are looking for. If you cherish culture and relish trying local cuisine then make a note of the Maldives’ different festival celebrations.

Check out our guide to the best time to visit Maldives:

1. Monsoon Season

Realise your dream of diving with manta rays. The monsoon season at Baros, from June to October is ideal for swimming with these incredible gentle giants. Temperatures are warm, with long periods of sunshine but there is always a chance of rain. Make the most of the inclement weather by escaping for a few hours to Serenity Spa or enjoy a pampering treatment in the seclusion of your comfortable villa.

2. High Season

If you are looking for the sun’s warmth and caressing vitamin D rays, then the high season temperatures ranging between 29°C to 31°C from November to April are the ideal months to enjoy tropical adventures and long happy days of dazzling sunshine. Expect calm waters and exciting leisure activities including cruising, snorkelling, scuba diving and kayaking.

3. Christmas at Baros

Baros in December is a wonderful holiday destination to celebrate Christmas, although this is usually a busy time. Our team puts together a very special festive programme, including the best experiences that Baros can offer, ranging from superb culinary events, romantic sunset cruises and adventurous diving excursions designed especially for you.

4. January to April at Baros

January to April are the driest months, with little rain and low humidity and are the perfect time for a late winter escape from Europe, a Valentine’s vacation or an Easter break. The sea is clear and calm during this period, making it ideal for sun-seekers looking to cruise around the islands.  Sail away aboard our luxury yacht, Serenity and enjoy unparalleled luxury with a private saloon, cabin for two and friendly experienced crew.

5. Muslim Celebrations

The Maldives is predominantly a Muslim country and Ramadan Holy Month (which falls on the ninth month of the Islamic calendar) is observed throughout the archipelago. Baros offers special EID getaway packages to guests hailing from the GCC who want to escape the summer heat waves and indulge in specially curated accommodation, dining and spa offers.

6. National Days

Every 26 July, Maldivians celebrate Independence Day and Baros celebrates this national holiday with a series of traditional performances. National Day, which falls on 27 September this year, is celebrated by numerous parades with the main parade being held in Malé.  Republic Day falls on 11 November and is a celebration of the formation of a republican government in 1968.
